Mars Mars is the fourth largest planet from the Sun and the seventh largest planet in the solar system, named after Mars, the ancient Roman god of war. Mars is sometimes called the "red planet" because of the reddish hue of the surface imparted to it by iron oxide. Mars is a planet of the Earth group with a rarefied atmosphere. The features of the surface relief of Mars can be considered impact craters like the moon, as well as volcanoes, valleys, deserts and polar ice caps like the earth. The Martian extinct volcano Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in the Solar System, and the Mariner Valley is the largest canyon. Mars has two natural satellites, Phobos and Deimos, which are relatively small and irregular in shape. The average distance from Mars to the Sun is 228 million km, the period of revolution around the Sun is 687 Earth days. The planet's rotation period is 24 hours 37 minutes 22.7 seconds. The temperature on the planet ranges from −153 ° C at the pole in winter and to more than +20 ° C at the equator at noon. The average temperature is −50 ° C. The atmosphere of Mars, consisting mainly of carbon dioxide, is very rarefied.

Slide 14

This planet is red due to the reddish-brown color of the soil and numerous particles of reddish dust in the sky.

Slide 15

Pluto Pluto is the largest, dwarf planet in the solar system. From the day it was discovered in 1930 until 2006, Pluto was considered the ninth planet in the solar system. On August 24, 2006, Pluto was transferred to the category of dwarf planets. Like most objects in the Kuiper belt, Pluto consists mainly of rocks and ice and is relatively small. The rotation period around the axis is 6.39 days (153.29 hours). One revolution of Pluto around the Sun lasts 247.7 Earth years. Its orbit differs from the orbits of other large planets by a considerable elongation. Thanks to this, the planet periodically "enters" into the orbit of Neptune. The diameter of Pluto is about 2,280 km. The atmosphere of the planet is discharged and consists of gaseous methane with a possible admixture of inert gases. It is believed that this planet is an ice world consisting of frozen gases. The surface of Pluto, heated by the Sun to minus 210 ° C. Pluto is different from all the planets distant from the Sun. Both in size and in many other parameters, it is more likely to resemble an asteroid captured in the solar system.

Slide 16

This planet is the largest year, it lasts 250 Earth years.

Slide 17

Mercury Mercury is the planet of the solar system closest to the Sun. It revolves around the Sun for 88 Earth days. The planet does not have natural satellites, but there is a very rarefied atmosphere. The planet has a large iron core, which is the source of the magnetic field. The core of Mercury is 70 percent of the total planet. The temperature on the surface of Mercury ranges from −180 to +430 ° C. Mercury spends 87.97 Earth days per revolution in orbit. The average speed of the planet in orbit is 48 km / s. Mercury days are 58.65 Earth days, i.e. 2/3 of the Mercury year. The surface of Mercury is dotted with many craters. There are no seasons on Mercury in the sense that we put in this concept on Earth. This is due to the fact that the axis of rotation of the planet is at right angles to the plane of the orbit. As a result, near the poles there are areas to which the sun's rays never reach. Being a small planet, Mercury has the highest density compared to other planets.

Slide 18

This planet is closest to the sun.

Slide 19

Neptune Planet Neptune is the eighth planet in the solar system. Neptune is also fourth in diameter and third in mass. The rotation period around the axis of 15.8 hours. The period of rotation around the Sun is 164.8 Earth years. The orbit of Neptune is one of the closest to the circle in the solar system. Neptune is 17 times more massive than Earth. The planet Neptune was named after the Roman god of the seas. The atmosphere of Neptune consists mainly of hydrogen and helium and contains a higher proportion of ice: water, ammonia, methane. The core of Neptune consists mainly of ice and rocks. Traces of methane in the outer layers of the atmosphere, in particular, are the cause of the blue of the planet. In the atmosphere of Neptune, the strongest winds are raging among the planets of the solar system, according to some estimates, their speeds can reach 2100 km / h. The temperature of Neptune in the upper atmosphere is close to −220 ° C. There are five rings around the planet: two bright and narrow and three weaker. Some sectors of the outer bright ring are significantly brighter than others. The planet Neptune currently has 13 known satellites.

Slide 20

She became the first planet discovered through mathematical calculations, and not through regular observations.

Slide 21

Uranus Uranus became the first planet discovered in modern times and with a telescope. The rotation period around the axis of 0.72 Earth days. The rotation period around the Sun is 84.02 Earth years. There is a lot of ice in the bowels of Uranus. The basis of the atmosphere of Uranus is hydrogen and helium. In addition, traces of methane and other hydrocarbons, as well as clouds of ice, solid ammonia and hydrogen, were found in it. It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in the solar system with a minimum temperature of −224 ° C. It is believed that Uranus has a complex layered cloud structure, where water is the lower layer, and methane is the upper one. The bowels of Uranus consist mainly of ice and rocks. Like other gas giants of the solar system, Uranus has a ring system, and in addition, 27 satellites. The orientation of Uranus in space differs from the rest of the planets of the Solar system - its axis of rotation lies as if “on its side” relative to the plane of revolution of this planet around the Sun. As a result of this, the planet is facing the Sun alternately either the north pole, then the south, then the equator, then the middle latitudes.

Slide 22

Despite the fact that sometimes it is visible to the naked eye, the ancients never recognized it as a planet because of dullness.

Slide 23

Jupiter Jupiter - the largest planet in the solar system - consists only of gas (mainly hydrogen and helium) and does not have a solid surface. The mass of Jupiter far exceeds the mass of all other planets combined. The rotation period around the axis is 9 hours 55 minutes. Around the Sun 12 years. The modern name of Jupiter comes from the name of the ancient Roman supreme god the thunder. The atmosphere of Jupiter consists of 89% hydrogen and 11% helium and resembles the Sun in chemical composition. It is easy to see that Jupiter is striped; on its rounded, but noticeably extended disk, a series of alternating light and dark stripes are visible, which are arranged differently each year. These are long rows of clouds and clouds of different colors. The Great Red Spot is clearly visible - a giant storm rotating with the clouds of Jupiter. Astronomers have been observing this gigantic storm for more than 300 years. By the beginning of the third millennium, 28 satellites are known from Jupiter. Four of them are large in size and weight. They move almost in circular orbits in the plane of the equator of the planet.

Saturn This planet is one of the brightest objects in our starry sky. The fabulous rings of Saturn cannot be confused with any other objects of the solar system. To date, Saturn has established the existence of 7 rings, three of which are visible from the Earth and discovered by astronomers for a long time. They consist of thousands and thousands of small solid fragments of stones and ice that rotate around the planet. From the Earth, depending on the relative position of the planets, they look different: they can be seen both in the form of rings, and “from the edge”. The rotation period around the axis is 10 hours 14 minutes. Since Saturn is not a solid ball, but consists of gas and liquid, its equatorial parts rotate faster than the circumpolar regions: at the poles, one revolution takes about 26 minutes slower. Under the influence of centrifugal forces, Saturn is noticeably flattened. The inner region is a small core of rocks and ice, covered with a thin layer of metallic hydrogen and a gaseous outer layer. Strong winds blow on Saturn. The period of revolution around the Sun is 29.666 years.
