The plus of the second school is its wider possibilities when combining runes, more simple binding of one or another letter to the script. In addition, inverted characters can improve the properties of the runescript precisely as a picture. However, this approach has its drawbacks.
First of all, an arbitrarily inverted rune can simply not be recognized. Try imagining Isa rotated 45 degrees, included in the script. How do you understand that this rune is Isa? Therefore, with signs such as Isa, Uruz, Kenaz, which are written relatively simply, you should be very careful if you still want to turn them in some way.
Secondly, if you decide to rotate all the runes in the script from different angles, then the runescript will cease to be a complete picture, but will become something slurred and dismantled.
Well, and finally, sometimes it seems that just turning the run script is enough and it will become exactly what you intended it to be. However, if you turn the runes within a reasonable framework, then you will not achieve a similar effect, but, nevertheless, the script itself is able to gain a lot.
When combining runes, attention is required. There are two basic rules that can help you get readable combinations.
The first rule is that at least one rune must correspond to each runescript line. In general, this is already obvious, since the script consists of those runes that you need to get a certain result, so drawing extraneous lines on it is at least strange.
According to the second rule, each rune must have at least one line belonging to it by one (the so-called unique line). An example of a runescript composed of runes Ansuz, Naud, Thurizas, Hagalaz.
Since the Naud rune does not have its own unique line, the runescript can be read without it, which is not very good.
However, to compile a readable runescript these rules are few. There are combinations in which a number of runes can simply disappear. For example, try to find the Laguz rune in this script:

Just look at the table below to understand how you can avoid the appearance of extra runes in scripts. The elements listed in the first five rows of the table, in principle, cannot be used “accidentally”. When combining runes, avoid unplanned squares, bows or triangles. As for the remaining elements, the question is somewhat more complicated, but they should be treated with caution.
However, a number of runes are devoid of vivid signs (the so-called soft runes). These include Uruz, Kenaz, Naud, Isa, Eihwaz and Laguz. They are, in fact, present in almost all runescripts. It is pointless to remove them from scripts, since they are often part of other runes (in particular, this concerns the Isa sign, which was not included in only two runes). In this case, the second problem arises - how to save them in scripts in which they were originally conceived.
First of all, they still should not be turned. We already mentioned this in the case of Isa, the same, albeit to a lesser extent, applies to the other runes. Nevertheless, even without being turned upside down, they are able to easily get lost in the script. The protrusion of the semblance of “vivid signs” that they possess will help to avoid such an effect.

Of course, the density of writing contradicts the desire to make the script readable, since fewer lines, as a rule, make it difficult to isolate individual runes. Thus, one of the main tasks that must be achieved when compiling a runescript is to find a balance between these two requirements.
The second important property is the integrity of the runescript, which means that, firstly, it should look like a single rune, and secondly, not consist of signs that are clearly not in their place.
Note that the first part of the integrity is not always required. It is possible to create runescripts so that individual runes do not retain their meaning.
At the same time, the connectedness of the runescript as a composition is a necessary condition for integrity. That is, any point in the script should allow you to reach another point, moving exclusively along the lines. The script should not fall apart. Of particular difficulty is the tracing of the rune of Jera, since it itself falls apart.
There are two ways to deal with this problem. The first involves ignoring the connectivity in the script with Jera (sometimes this is the best way out) and linking to both halves of this sign the individual parts of the script. In the second embodiment, you can put any rune in the middle of Jera, thus linking it.
However, none of these options is ideal, because in the first case, instead of one script, two are obtained, and in the second, reading the Jera rune is significantly complicated. This problem has to be solved every time in a new way. But it should be noted that you should definitely not weave one half of Jera into a runescript, and leave the other half next to it, as in the example given:

How to draw runescripts on the body
