THANKS TO EVERYONE

Hello YouTube, Ymeinaru here. And today I would like to talk about the character of the anime and manga One Piece, Shanks. I apologize in advance if anyone's name is pronounced incorrectly. Go!!!

1) Shanks was born on the same day as Franky and Mihawk (March 9th).
2) In the manga, when Shanks holds the rescued Luffy in the sea after losing his arm, blood is seen gushing from the wound on his forearm. No blood was shown in the anime.
3) he was once a member of the Roger Pirates - a cabin boy on his ship, where he took part in many battles and adventures.
4) In the fifth Japanese fan poll, Shanks is ranked as the 14th most popular character in One Piece, making him the most popular of the Red Hair and Yonko Pirates.
5) Shanks was shown with different swords during his time on Gol D. Roger's ship as a cabin boy and during a stop at Luffy's home village. Moreover, when he was a cabin boy in Roger's team, he was seen using two swords at the same time
6) When Shanks lost his arm, it was clear that part of it still remained, although he was later shown without his arm, cut off from the shoulder joint itself. However, the surgeon may cut away the remaining flesh of a patient who has lost a limb down to the nearest joint to create a clean cut. This procedure is used to avoid certain serious medical complications in which the patient's life is at risk of death.
7) It was Shanks who suffered the most from censorship due to alcohol in the 4Kids English translation. For example, in the scene when Mihawk brought news of Luffy's success, a lot was changed. Shanks also asks an old friend to stay, but most of it was erased due to the drinking, including the offer to throw a party in Luffy's honor. Because of this, Red-Haired seems not cheerful and cheerful, but rather angry. When Mihawk shows the reward post, Shanks says that he can't just let him go. Because of the scenes that were cut further, it turns out that he was going to fight instead of having fun. The scene was also cut from the original episode and added to the end of the earlier one.
8) At some point, Shanks met Marshall D. Teach, then a member of Whitebeard's team. It is unknown what exactly happened, but after the meeting, three diagonal scars left by Blackbeard appeared around Shanks' left eye.
9) Shanks has Royal Haki, an ability that can only be used by one in a million.
Oda confirmed in SBS that Shanks would have been able to disable 100,000 pirates and fish-men when there was a battle between the Straw Hats and the New Fish-Man Pirates with his Haki (though Luffy was only able to do it with 50,000 at a time).
10) While on the Roger Pirates, he spent more time with another cabin boy, Buggy, constantly arguing with him over ridiculous things.
11) The nickname Shanks gave Luffy as a child ("anchor") is ironic, since "Shank" is part of a ship's anchor.
12) When Shanks and Whitebeard's blades clashed, the "heaven" above them opened up, giving an idea of how incredibly powerful Armament Haki the Yonko charged their weapons with.
13) Despite the fact that Shanks has visited many places, he is confident that the best sake is made in his hometown in West Blue.
14)The first owner of the straw hat that Luffy wears was Roger. At some point, Roger gave Shanks his straw hat, although the details of this event are not yet known.
15) In the book Anime Encyclopedia - A Guide to Japanese Animation Since 1917 (2001) there was a small paragraph about One Piece. There were two errors in it involving Shanks: his name was written as "Junks", and also, according to the version of the book, it was not he who saved Luffy, but rather the Mugiwara who did it. All errors have been corrected in subsequent editions.

Video 15 FACTS ABOUT SHANKS | SHANKS: INTERESTING FACTS |ONE PIECE of Ymeinaru channel

One of the cult anime that almost everyone has watched is undoubtedly One Piece. The drawing may be irritating at first, but over time you get used to it, and the cartoon becomes addictive. The interesting plot and characters of “One Piece” come to the fore, and you pay little attention to the rest. Yes, this is not a super beautiful anime with heroes of ideal appearance, but the humor and adventures of a crew of pirates are much more attractive than the usual stereotypes and clichés of modern Japanese cartoons.

Straw Hat Pirates

The main characters of One Piece are, of course, the team led by Monkey D. Luffy. Despite their small numbers and varied composition, they are serious opponents who should not be easily dismissed.

Due to the fact that the captain of the team has his own idea about the crew members, a very original audience has gathered on board his ship: people with superpowers, a cyborg, a skeleton musician. But they are united by friendship and mutual assistance. In the world of One Piece, the biographies of the characters are very interesting and unusual. Each has its own story and character.

Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy in the world of One Piece is better known by his nickname in honor of the hat he received as a child as a gift from a famous pirate. The captain dreams of becoming the king of all pirates. At the age of 17, he set out on a journey to make his dream come true. Known for his recklessness and courage. There is a 500 million bounty on his head.

Us

The red-haired and brown-eyed young beauty is a navigator on the Straw Hat team. She joined Luffy after his victory at Arlong.

Nami is well versed in weather conditions, noticing the slightest changes. Loves tangerines and money. Her dream is to draw the most accurate map of the whole world. In addition to her navigational abilities, she is famous for her thieving skills, for which she even received the nickname Thief Cat. Her capture is estimated at 66 million.

Roronoa Zoro

The green-haired and muscular first mate. Monkey D. Luffy was the first to join. If you choose who is the strongest character in the One Piece world, then Zoro is the second most powerful and capable character in the Straw Hat team.

Since childhood, he has dreamed of becoming a famous swordsman, and therefore constantly practices with weapons. He fights with three swords at once, even holding one in his teeth. Differs They offer 320 million for his capture.

Usopp

Sometimes in One Piece, character names have different interpretations. Thus, Usopp is sometimes also called Usoppa. Also known by the nickname Sogeking. In the world of pirates since childhood, since his father took up this type of activity after the death of his wife.

Calls himself vice-captain, an excellent shooter and an unsurpassed liar. His preferred weapons are slingshots and bombs. A good inventor.

Joined Luffy in hopes of fulfilling his dream of becoming the greatest warrior of the sea.

His capture is estimated at 200 million.

Brooke

The One Piece characters on Luffy's crew are not only human. Brooke, for example, is a living skeleton. Before his death, he was a musician in another pirate crew. After his resurrection, Luffy joined the crew, dreaming of having his own musician on board. Not a bad swordsman. For his capture, the Marines offered a reward of 83 million.

Nico Robin

Combines pirate activities with archaeological ones. Since childhood, he has been interested in history and dreams of finding the Rio Poneglyph. After the girl ate the hana-khana fruit, she gained the ability to grow any parts of her body. Robin's capture is estimated at 130 million.

Sanji

Team cook. In battle, he uses only his legs, as he is afraid of damaging his hands, which are necessary for cooking. Because of this, he received the nickname Black Leg. Heavy smoker and macho. He doesn’t let a single pretty girl pass by and in their company he goes crazy in the literal sense of the word.

Since childhood, he has been interested in the art of cooking. Dreams of finding a sea where fish of all kinds live.

In terms of strength, he is the third fighter on the team. His capture is estimated at 177 million. For some mysterious reasons, it is very important for the Marines, even on the wanted leaflet there is a note: “Take only alive.”

Frankie

He is one of the so-called weaklings of the team. At first he opposed the Straw Hat Pirates, but then switched to their side. Cyborg and ship carpenter. Estimated by the Marines at 94 million. Also known as Frankie the Pervert due to his distinctive clothing style: swimming trunks, an open Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses and a massive gold chain.

Tony Tony Chopper

Reindeer. After eating it, he gained the ability to turn into a human, although it looks more like a gorilla. In its transitional form it looks like a tanuki. Ship's doctor. Due to his unusual appearance, he is often mistaken for a ship's pet rather than a crew member, so the reward for him is minimal - only 100 units.

All the main characters of One Piece are interesting and diverse personalities, whose fate and development are interesting to watch throughout the series.

Mistranslations and misunderstandings

What happens if you eat two Devil Fruits?

Myth: If you eat two Devil Fruits, the power of the second fruit will replace the power of the first.
Fact: In one SBS, Oda Eichiro stated that it is impossible to transfer the power of the fruit to another person, since after the first bite the fruit becomes normal. Because of this, fans theorized that if one ate a second fruit, its power would replace the first, but in the Enies Lobby arc, Lucci and Bruno said that if one ate a second fruit after the first, the person would die.

Zoan types can talk to animals.

Myth: People who eat Zoan fruit can talk to animals.
Fact: Although this rumor is not popular, some people still believe that those who eat the Zoan fruit can talk to animals. This bug occurs because Chopper can talk to both humans and animals. But the real reason is that he was an animal before he ate the fruit, and that's why he can talk to them.
Also in one filler arc, there is a girl named Apis who ate a Devil Fruit and could communicate with animals, but the type of the fruit was Paramecia, not Zoan.

Pirate Gathering.

Myth: Ace said something about a Pirate Rally, so it must be some place or event.
Fact: There is no Pirate Gathering. Ace meant "See you when you reach the top." This is a figurative expression. Ace implied that Luffy would become stronger and reach the same level of power as him. Pirate Gathering is a mistranslation that can be seen in many subs. K-F, one of the fansubbers, translated it incorrectly, Stefan, the script translator (translator of the original), also translated it incorrectly and said that he would soon correct the mistake. Also, the piece of paper that Ace gave to Luffy is clear, it's not an invitation or anything like that.

The higher the reward, the stronger they are.

Myth: Buggy the Clown could not beat Luffy, since his bounty is 15,000,000, and Luffy's bounty is 300,000,000. Buggy is too weak.
Fact: Some characters like Bellamy used the reward as a measure of strength, but this is not true. The reward is the threat level, not the power level. Someone very weak may have a high reward, and some very strong may have a low reward. Although, physically strong characters can be a very good threat to the World Government, such as Luffy, despite the fact that he is not very smart. This was made clear by Oda in one of SBS. Another example is Blackbeard, who has no reward at all.

Solar King.

Myth: Straw Hats' new ship - "King of Beasts"
Fact: Sometimes we come to conclusions without waiting for official information from Oda, but unfortunately, this is the price of human nature. When the Straw Hats first saw their new ship, Iceburg commented that Frankie thought the Pirate King should sail on the "Beast Ship". This has led fans to speculate that the ship will be called the "King of Beasts". However, this is not the official name. The ship's official name was given in Chapter 439: Southern Sunny, which was approved by all 8 crew members.

"What I see..."

Myth: Robin stated that she can only attack what she sees, such as when she captured the Southern Bird on Jaya Island.
Fact: A popular misunderstanding about Robin's abilities. This was not refuted by a later incident where she formed eyes on Luffy's hand during the rescue of Usopp in the clouds before Skypiea. Robin didn't mean that she literally had to SEE the bird in order to catch it, but rather that she had to KNOW where it was. The bird was hiding, and as soon as it came into view and Robin knew where it was, the bird was caught.
There are numerous examples of her closing her eyes or turning around and attacking those she cannot see. A good example is the previously mentioned rescue of Usopp. She closed her eyes and formed many more eyes on Luffy's hand, not to mention the end of his hand, which was very far from her sight.

Garp caught Roger.

Myth: Gold Roger was caught by Garp.
Fact: Garp didn't catch Roger, he just fought him and cornered the Pirate King several times. Early translations of chapter 431 mistranslated a phrase that led many people to believe that Roger was captured by Garp.
It was also later revealed that Roger voluntarily surrendered to the World Government because he was terminally ill.

Moriya is a former Shichibukai.

Myth: Robin stated that Moriya is a former Shichibukai.
Fact: This was an early misconception in the run-up to the story of Moria. In Chapter 455, the term "moto Shichibukai" was translated as "former Shichibukai". This was an error, but the error was not corrected in Volume 47, leaving it to exist alongside the correct version.

Penguin Dog.

Myth: Sanji's shadow was placed into Penguin Dog during the Thriller Bark arc.
Fact: Sanji's shadow was indeed placed into the dog-faced member of the Zombie Penguin Trio. However, the zombie's name is Inuppi. Usopp refers to him as Penguin Dog in Chapter 453, but this is not his official name. This is one of the most common mistakes made by One Piece fans, but it was accepted because it was initially unknown what else to call this zombie.

Mihawk blade type.

Myth: Mihawk's sword is Gross Messer.
Fact: Mihawk's blade is a katana, one of the Saijo O Wazamono Grade Swords. Its decorative hilt is a little confusing, since katanas do not have such hilts. However, the word "katana" only refers to the blade of the sword, not the blade as a whole. The handle is removable, and since good blades are rare, they were reused. The reason why the Mihawk blade was mistaken for a Gross Messer is because of the decorative Western-style handle. Gross Messer and a blade like Mihawk's exist in the real world, which is why they were considered identical. And the most famous reason for this comparison is that Mihawk's blade is made like a Gross-Messer blade.
Note: Gross Messer is a German two-handed saber.

Bon Clay.

Myth: Mister 2's real name is Bon Clay.
Fact: This is a mistranslation found in almost all versions. The mistake was so widespread that even Japanese Mister 2 merchandise was sold under this name. However, in the manga, at least once, his real name was written in English: Bon Kure (or Bon Clay, as a more Russian version of the pronunciation). This name is a reference to his feminine essence, which was part of him and replaced his assistant, because unlike other license agents, he did not have an assistant. It is also known that the partners of license plate agents were named after Japanese holidays.

The Last Yonko.

Myth: Empress Hancock - Yonko.
Fact: Many thought that Hancock was the last Yonko, mainly due to the fact that her title translates to empress. Although the translation is accurate, the Japanese terms for “empress” and “yonko” are different. And more recently it turned out that Hancock is one of the Shichibukai and her title of empress is associated with the fact that she is the leader of the Kuja tribe on the island of Amazon Lily.
Note: Yonko literally translates from Japanese as 4 emperors.

Assumptions

Buster Call - Death Star.

Myth: Buster Call attacks with laser beams
Fact: Fans like to make wild predictions and hopes that Buster Call is a huge and scary Death Star-like ship, packed with lasers that could blow up the island like the Death Star blows up Alderaan. Chapter 396 proves this wrong. Buster Call is a military operation involving a fleet of World Government ships, led by five Vice Admirals, whose mission is to bombard the island until everything is burned to the ground.
Note: In the Russian translation, Baster Call was translated as Call of Five.

Long Nose Usopp

Myth: Usopp's nose serves as a sight, helping him lock onto his target and get the perfect shot!
Fact: No! It is not right. There are times when his nose is pointing one way and his slingshot is pointing another, and he still makes a great shot. Plus, he's not always a good shot, so Usopp's nose has nothing to do with his skill as a marksman, he was just born that way. Look at his father Yassop - he can shoot excellently, although he has a short nose.

D is for Dragon.

Myth: Dragon appeared in Log Town and Luffy understood what the dragon was saying in the Apis arc. D must stand for DRAGON.
Fact: The Apis Arc (also known as the Warship Island Arc) is filler. Therefore, everything that was shown in it (with the exception of a few things, such as information about Calm Belt), was not in Oda's manga. This rumor originated on a popular anime site that made this wild guess after watching the arc. Due to the popularity of said resource, others have also toyed with the idea (although some fans have come to the idea on their own). However, Dragon has been proven to have an important role in the plot.

Strawberry.

Myth: Character X loves character Y.
Fact: Couples like Luffy + Nami are often hinted at, however, some fans try to turn speculation into fact when it is not. When asked by SBS if there would be romance in One Piece, Oda replied that "they love adventure." There are no hints about this directly in the manga. However, fans of any series take even the smallest details as a hint. But remember: One Piece is not a shoujo, so don't expect much romance.
The only love story in One Piece currently introduced by Oda after 11 years is Hancock's feelings for Luffy. However, her feelings are not mutual (at least not yet) and we can only wait to see what Oda is up to and where all this will lead.

Buggy scarred Shanks.

Myth: The scars on Shanks' left eye are similar to the ones Luffy received when he was stabbed in the face by Buggy's knives. Buggy must have hurt Shanks too!
Fact: Shanks stated that he received the scars from Blackbeard.

Dragon's Devil Fruit powers.

Myth: This is obvious since he says "Wind Blast" in Log Town and also caused the lightning strike that saved Luffy, so Dragon has the power of a Devil Fruit, wind logia, or weather control paramecia.
Fact: Dragon didn't say "Wind Blast" in the manga, it was added in the anime. There is also no evidence that he was the one who caused the lightning. We don't know anything about its power yet, although anything is possible.

Comparison of Oda characters.

Myth: Oda created the character X from One Piece based on another character from another work.
Fact: While some characters, such as Django, clearly have some origin, others are not as easily comparable. If you really want, you can compare each character to someone else. Many characters are based on other characters. But saying something like "Brooke looks like Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas" without Oda confirming it is just speculation.

Corgi and CP5

Myth: Corgi is a member of CP5, and possibly even their commander.
Fact: This speculation stemmed from Corgi trying to force Iceburg to give him the blueprints for Pluto. Similarly, Spandam tried to force Tom to give up the blueprints when he was in CP5's custody. However, Oda didn't say anything about this in SBS or in the manga, so this is just speculation.

Luffy's parents.

Myth: Makino is Luffy's mother. Shanks is Luffy's father.
Fact: Nobody knows who Luffy's mother is. Makino is just a friend, she cares about Luffy just like the mayor. It was shown that Luffy's father is not Shanks, but Dragon. This was a speculation from fans who noticed how worried Shanks was about Luffy and how Shanks looked a lot like Luffy at the beginning of the story.

Belous too D.

Myth: Whitebeard should be with D! Look how strong he is!
Fact: Until now, his name sounded like "Edward Newgate", but since Gold Roger's name was revealed to sound like "Gol D. Roger", some readers assumed that his name was "Edward D. Newgate", but so far this is only assumption. It is also clear that not all strong characters have a D in their name.

They will join!

Myth: Character X was so cool that he should join Team Straw Hats.
Fact: In each new arc, a character joins Luffy's crew. Lots of fans are wondering who else will join and when.

Previously proposed team members:
- Vivi: Traveled with Team Straw Hats in the Baroque Works Saga, but couldn't stay. At the end of the Arabasta arc, the Straw Hats were ready to take her on board and wanted to turn the ship around to pick her up, but Vivi bid them a tearful goodbye. Her duties as princess of the kingdom prevented her from leaving her homeland, but she remained their nakama and would always be welcome on the team.
- Bon Kure: Helped the Straw Hats escape to Arabasta and wanted to befriend them. But in the end he sailed away with his crew to distract the Marines from chasing the Straw Hats.
- Konis: Having shown skill in music, she considered joining Team Straw Hats as a musician, but showed little combat skill and ended up staying on Skypiea with her father. She was never asked to join the team or showed any interest

Scar of Moria

Myth: Moriya received the scar in his battle with Kaido.
Fact: At this time, the origin of Moria's scar is unknown.

Gossip

Fake awards

Myth: The reward for Mihawk is 600,000,000, for Shanks 700,000,000.
Fact: If Oda announces a reward, it will appear directly in the manga on a wanted poster or in the character information window. In addition, only SBS can present the award quantity and rating. The confirmed reward will also appear in upcoming chapters of Grand Line Times.

These famous bounty rumors were made by fans, mainly due to people who created fan fliers with bounty characters, as well as rumor speculation or due to fan fiction. There are many fans who believe them, however, they are not true. Other common rewards are for Whitebeard, worth 1 billion, and Gold Roger, worth 1.2 billion.
In addition to this, due to a fake spoiler for Chapter 441, there was a mention of a reward for Ace in the amount of 400 million. This fake spoiler stated that the total bounty for Luffy and Ace was 700 million. The exact amount for Ace's head was not stated; however, at that time everyone knew that the bounty on Luffy was 300 million. So this meant that Ace's head was worth 400 million according to the fake spoiler.
The fake Thriller Bark arc spoiler included a bounty of 370 million for Gekko Moria. The information was false, the real reward is 320 million. Another fake reported that the reward for Mihawk was 540,000,000 and Whitebeard was 120,000,000,000. Another reward for Dragon was 500,000,000.

Shichibukai and their teams.

Myth: When a pirate achieves the rank of Shichibukai, he must disband his crew.
Fact: This is absolutely false! Oda never stated this in either the manga or SBS. It is unclear how this appeared in the English translation. There are currently three theories as to how this happened, one or all three of which may be the source of this myth:

1. A lot of English fans claimed that sometimes 4Kids did the wrong translation because they didn't watch the original Japanese version. The exact source of this rumor was never mentioned.
2. One source was to blame for how the Shichibukai were presented. Mihawk was shown without a crew, Arlong was shown separated from Jimbei's crew, and Crocodile did not have a pirate crew. Kuma and Doflamingo appeared alone at the Shichibukai/Marine meeting. Doflamingo later returns to punish Bellamy for disgracing his old flag. Combining all this, fans came to the conclusion that the Shichibukai had left their teams.
3. When asked where they learned this from, fans usually associate the information with Yosaku's description of the Shichibukai. This misunderstanding, however, is incorrect, as there is no such statement about the Shichibukai in Yosaku's story.

Since the World Government doesn't care what the Shichibukai do as long as they maintain balance in the world, it seems unlikely that they would mandate such a rule for the Shichibukai because they need them. So far, the only Shichibukai who is a loner is Mihawk. This is one of the most powerful myths among English fans. Even with new chapters being released and old ones being confirmed, the myth still exists.

Death of the Straw Hat

Myth: Oda stated that a team member would die!
Fact: Perhaps one of the most famous forum rumors. In 2003, Oda was alleged to have given his verbal word that a member of the Straw Hat crew would die. At that time, there were still episodes about Skypiea.
The story goes on (as veteran fans often say), but that never happened. Oda said that things didn't go as he planned. The team member who was supposed to die in 2003 was Going Merry, who had been through a lot. As Skypiea dragged on, Going Merry's death was delayed for 4 years while Oda completed the other arcs and finally continued the end of Merry storyline at the conclusion of the Enies Lobby arc.
Oda has stated many times over the years that the series lasted longer than he expected, as he planned to finish it in 5 years.

Translator jokes and fake spoilers

Norland - Dee.

Myth: His name is Montblanc D. Norland!!!
Fact: A joke that came from kaizoku-fansubs. Basically, they decided to do a stupid test to see what would happen. However, their joke has captured most of the fan community, and it will apparently take weeks to kill this myth. Meanwhile, it leaked to almost every forum (putting many people in an awkward position). His name is simply Montblanc Norland.

Aokiji, Ace and Blackbeard.

Myth: Ao Kiji will interrupt the two pirates' fight to ask what they are doing.
Fact: Between the end of the Enies Lobby arc and the beginning of the Thriller Bark arc, this rumor turned into a constant form of spoilers being released over the course of several weeks. In each case, the fake copied picture looked like the real thing. On the surface, all the fake spoilers said the same thing, but there were differences between the stories in each fake spoiler released. Aokiji was later shown with Garp aboard his ship, taking a ride to Marine headquarters while Blackbeard and Ace fought elsewhere.

Luffy is a Shichibukai.

Myth: Luffy's grandfather will offer him a place as one of the Shichibukai.
Fact: It's fake, just like the myth about Ace and Blackbeard. The place of one of the Shichibukai is offered by the World Government. Garp simply does not have the authority to grant him this position. This rumor originated from fan speculation as a reaction to the Chapter 472 spoiler. In fact, it's unlikely that they would have offered him the position or that he would have accepted, given his actions in Enies Lobby (declaring war on the World Government when Sogeking burned their flag at his request).

Frankie's dad is SUUUUUP!

Myth: Frankie's father is Yonko.
Fact: Nothing is known about him. Frankie is the son of a pirate, this was unexpectedly revealed in the chapter spoiler when the Feenki Family asked the Straw Hats to take him with them. Later, when the chapter was released, there was no further information regarding Frankie's origin. This Chapter was only presented as evidence because of what Garp said about the Yonko a few chapters ago.

Plot:
The last words spoken by the Pirate King before his execution inspired many: “My treasure? If you want, take it. Look - I left them all there! The legendary phrase of Gold Roger marked the beginning of the Great Age of Pirates - thousands of people, in pursuit of their dreams, went to the Grand Line, the most dangerous place in the world, wanting to become owners of mythical treasures...

But every year there were fewer and fewer romantics, they were gradually replaced by pragmatic pirate-robbers, for whom the loot was much closer than some “worthless dreams.” But then, one fine day, seventeen-year-old Monkey D. Luffy fulfilled his cherished childhood dream - he went to sea. His goal is nothing less than to become the new Pirate King. In a fairly short period of time, the young captain manages to assemble a team consisting of equally ambitious adventurers. And even though they are driven by completely different aspirations, the main thing is that these guys care not so much about money and fame, but about much more valuable things - principles and loyalty to friends. And also – serving the Dream

Main characters: (Straw Hat Team)
Captain

Name: Monkey D. Luffy
Place of Birth: East Blue, Kingdom of Goa, Fuschia village
Devil Fruit: Gomu-Gomu, paramecium. Makes the body rubber, allowing it to stretch and giving all the properties of rubber, such as electrical insulation.
Biography:
History is silent about how exactly Luffy spent the first years of his life and met Shanks. However, the fact remains that the red-haired pirate inspired Luffy to become a pirate and search for One Piece. And the scar under Luffy's eye reminds him that in early childhood the boy injured himself and almost cut out his own eye, trying to prove to Shanks that he was already a man. Moreover, Shanks once saved little Luffy's life by sacrificing his left arm. It is not surprising that at the age of seven, Luffy found an idol who gave him that same straw hat. Poor grandfather Marine Monkey D. Garp could not even imagine that the merciless training for survival in the mountains and jungle, which he arranged for his grandson, would develop remarkable endurance in the future... pirate.
As soon as the boy turned 17, he loaded his carcass into a boat, hoisted a pathetic semblance of a pirate flag next to him and set off in splendid isolation into the open ocean, not at all worried about the fact that if something happened he would go to the bottom with an axe. However, luck befriended the insolent guy - so much so that in a short time he managed to assemble a pirate crew, get himself a ship, slip onto the Grand Line and by now earn a rather large price on his head.

Character:
Naively enthusiastic - when there are no special problems, idiotically selfless - when the life or freedom of the nakama is threatened. Despite the fact that Luffy often behaves more than stupidly, in situations that require the captain's intervention, he makes the only correct decisions. In general, Luffy has a very well-developed intuition (for example, he always identifies the strongest among his opponents and chooses him as his opponent). Reacts easily and naturally to ridicule, practically without getting angry. Persistent to the bitter end, confident in himself and the team. And simply - he believes in people, he believes in people. But if his comrades or the straw hat Shanks are in mortal danger, he can kill.
First assistant

Name: Roronoa Zoro
Place of Birth: East Blue, Shimotsuki Village
Devil Fruit: No
Biography:
Better known as the Pirate Hunter, Zoro is the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates.
From a young age, Zoro, along with many other local children, trained in martial arts at the Shimotsuki Village dojo. Like everyone else, he wanted to become an outstanding swordsman, but this was not enough for the boy, he wanted to become the best. And the first obstacle on his way was the daughter of the dojo owner, Quina, whom he could not defeat, no matter how many times he fought against her and no matter how many swords were in his hands. Over time, they began to communicate more, Zoro got to know Kuina better, and friendship was added to the rivalry. At this time, they promised each other that one of them in the future would definitely become the greatest swordsman in the whole world.
Gradually, Zoro got used to the three-sword style, but as soon as he became more or less confident in his abilities against Quina, she died a stupid death - falling down the stairs. Since then, Zoro has stuck to their promise and is trying with all his might to bring the future of the “greatest swordsman” closer to himself.
For some time he improved his fighting skills, traveling with Johnny and Yosaku, a couple of friends, and catching pirates, after a while he got into trouble with the Marines, from where Luffy pulled him out. After that, he is with the team all the time, defeating more and more new opponents, both first in the East Blue and then on the Grand Line.
Zoro's goal is to become the most skilled swordsman, to which he dedicated his life, constantly improving his skills. Zoro's ultimate goal is to win a fight with a man named "Hawkeye" Mihawk, the best swordsman in the world, who was, not unreasonably, called by one of the characters as a "monster among monsters."

Character:
Usually shown as a serious and reasonable person, Zoro sometimes loses his temper in favor of emotions under certain circumstances and behaves stupidly, if not comically. At the same time, Zoro has well-developed logic, so when important decisions are made, it is he who speaks to the point and to the point. But he always passes off his thoughts as just an opinion. Believes in Luffy and obeys his decisions no matter how crazy they are.
Navigator

Name: Nami
Place of Birth: East Blue, Cocoyashi Village
Devil Fruit: No
Biography:
Nami is one of the best navigators sailing the Grand Line. On Going Merry, and later Sunny, Nami also plays the role of bosun, introducing the necessary element of discipline and very often exploiting all the friends on the crew. She is very smart and used to emerging victorious from any situation.

Nami is an orphan. As an infant, she was picked up on the battlefield by Bellmere, a Marine soldier. The quiet life ended when the notorious pirate Arlong and his crew invaded their village. Bellmere was unable to pay Arlong's monthly tax and was killed before Nami's eyes. Even then, Nami, who had perfected the art of making maps, joined Arlong’s gang and made an agreement with him: he would leave the village if Nami brought him one hundred million beli. Because of Arlong, Nami hated pirates, but when Luffy and the crew beat Arlong and saved the village, she realized that she had truly found friends and became a full-fledged member of the crew.
Character:
Nami is very greedy and hot-tempered and at first may even seem cruel, but under this mask hides a very kind and vulnerable girl. More than anything in the world, she loves money and tangerines. But when she says “I love money and tangerines,” she means “I love money and a lot of money,” because in Japan the tangerine is a symbol of fabulous wealth. (But she also loves tangerines for the reason that her adoptive mother Belmere, when they lived a peaceful life in their village, grew tangerines, which is a kind of symbol of her). However, her main dream is to map the world. But if she is given a choice - friends or money - she will choose the first without hesitation.

Cononier

Name: Usopp
Place of Birth: East Blue, Syrup Village
Devil Fruit: No
Biography:
Usopp was born and raised in Syrup Village. His father, Yasopp, left the family and became a pirate when Usopp was still a child. After some time, his mother, Banchina, became very ill. To cheer her up, Usopp began running around the village every day, alerting the villagers when pirates had landed. Banchina soon died, but Usopp, unable to cope with the pain of loss, continued to deceive. He was not taken seriously, and chasing a liar became a local tradition. Despite everything, Usopp is proud of his father and dreams of becoming a brave warrior of the sea.
Usopp became friends with Kaya, a sick girl from a wealthy family who was also left without parents at an early age. Usopp's tall tales were the only thing that could cheer Kaya up and give her the energy to move on with her life.
A couple of years before the events of One Piece, Captain Kuro, a former pirate tired of constant persecution by the Navy, decided to retire. By faking his death, Kuro gained Kaya's trust by becoming her butler. Knowing that Kaya's parents left her a large inheritance, the pirate hoped to arrange her death and take possession of the wealth.
Usopp learned of the cunning plan and was able to defeat Captain Kuro with the help of the Straw Hat Pirates, who were meanwhile in the village. Usopp joined Luffy, and Kaya, in gratitude, gave them a ship - the Going Merry.

Character:
Despite his outward cowardice (at the slightest danger his knees shake feverishly), at crucial moments Usopp can overcome his fear and show enviable courage. In addition, Usopp can be quite resilient and persistent - despite the fact that he is far from being, as he says, “monsters like you” when referring to Luffy, Zoro and Sanji. The size of the latest bounty on his head suggests that he was at least close to their strength in the first episodes
"One Piece".
Usopp is a great marksman. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to compete with him in slingshot shooting. In the Enyas Lobby arc, Usopp shot CP9 chief Spandam, who was dragging Robin, from a distance inaccessible even to the Marines' muskets, and then from the same distance smuggled the keys to Robin's handcuffs to Frankie. You can't deny his engineering skills either - Usopp has repeatedly repaired the Going Merry, which was in serious trouble, and also designed a large number of devices and mechanisms. It was he who made the prefabricated staff for Nami.

Cook

Name: Sanji
Place of Birth: North Blue
Devil Fruit: No
Biography:
Sanji is the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates. This is why everyone loves him (especially Luffy).
Before Sanji arrived at the Baratier Restaurant, he constantly threw leftover food off his plates. But one incident made him seriously change his mind. The ship on which Sanji served as a cook was attacked by pirates, and then suddenly a storm hit both ships. Zeff (the captain of the pirate ship) was able to save Sanji from death, paying for it with his own leg, and pulled the boy onto land - an island rising above the sea.
There was no vegetation on the island and, accordingly, no animals - only bare stone. It was possible to go down from the island to get fish, but it was unlikely to go back up. Luckily, they had some food left. Zeff took most of it for himself, leaving Sanji a small bag, explaining that he was a child and needed less food. Sanji knew how to manage the food - with proper distribution, it would have been enough for 2 weeks. But the ships did not approach the island. After a few weeks, the hunger became unbearable, and a desperate Sanji decided to kill Zeff and take his food. To his surprise, an untouched bag was waiting for him on the other side of the island, and Zeff was missing one leg. There was gold in the bag.
Realizing that Zeff had given him all the food and was starving (and in the manga he actually ate his leg), Sanji burst into tears and swore that if they were rescued from this island, he would help Zeff open a restaurant that would float in the sea and feed those who were left floating without food. Soon, Zeff and Sanji were picked up by a passing ship.
After this incident, Sanji and Zeff opened the Baratier restaurant, where they prepare the best dishes in East Blue. Even if the client has no money, but is very hungry, Sanji does not refuse a piece of bread - he knows better than others what it means to die of hunger in the middle of the endless ocean.
In battle, Sanji fights only with his legs, in order not to damage his hands, which he uses to prepare food. Sanji also (but very rarely) uses a revolver or kitchen knives. Sanji is one of the strongest characters in the One Piece world. Slightly inferior in strength to Zoro, Sanji sees him as an eternal rival, although he still respects him very much and values his friendship.

Character:
Sanji is crazy about women. He pays especially much attention to the women of Luffy's crew - Nami, Vivi and Nico Robin.
Sanji is a heavy smoker. He is rarely seen on screen without a cigarette in his mouth.
Quite often, while the others are fighting enemies, Sanji disappears somewhere to sabotage the enemy. This was the case, for example, on Little Garden Island, in Skypiea, and Enies Lobby.
Sanji's dream is to find All Blue - a place where fish from all four seas gather. This way he can cook any dish in the world.
Due to the fact that the photographer did not remove the cover from the camera, the photograph on the poster with the bounty on his head was drawn by hand.

Ship's doctor

Name: Tony Tony Chopper
Place of Birth: Grand Line, Drum Kingdom (now Sakura Kingdom)
Devil Fruit: Hito-Hito, zoan. Allows you to take the form of a person.
Biography:
Chopper is the smallest and youngest member of the Straw Hat Pirates, and is also a reindeer. Thanks to the devil fruit Hito-Hito, eaten as a child, he can take other forms - a humanoid creature or a small and pot-bellied deer. In addition, Chopper understands animal language. Chopper also doesn't know how to hide; instead of hiding his body and peeking around the corner, he hides his eye.
However, the fruit does more harm than good to Chopper. As a child, because he was different from others, he was not accepted into the herd. People didn’t accept him either; only the charlatan doctor Khiruluk (Khilyuluk) took pity on him; after curing him, he gave him a name and took him on as an apprentice. Thus began Chopper's real life.
Later, Hiruluk, knowing that he would soon die, decided to protect himself from Chopper and kicked him out of his house. Chopper, having learned that Hiruluk is dying, decides to find a medicine that could cure him. Soon he finds such a medicine in a book - a special mushroom with a skull and crossbones in the corner (and Hiruluk at one time inspired him that the skull and crossbones are a “sign of conviction.” And that under this sign the impossible can be done). Having overcome enormous difficulties and received serious wounds, he still gets this mushroom and brings it to the doctor.
The Doctor was very touched by what Chopper did for him, even though he knew that the mushroom was deadly, he still ate it. Hiruluk idolized pirates and their flag and infected Chopper with his love for them, so when he saw a mushroom and a familiar symbol in the book - a skull and crossbones - he decided that this was just what he needed. Chopper learned that the mushroom is not a panacea for all diseases, but poison, only from Dr. Kurekha.
Dr. Hiruluk had a dream - to make cherry blossoms happen on the frozen island (when the cherry blossoms bloom, the petals of its flowers begin to fall), which, he believed, should cure all the diseases of the people of this island, just as it once cured him. He spent all his time free from treating people on this. In order to destroy all the doctors on the island, except for the twenty who were in his service, Wapol, a local usurper, decided to lure the doctor into a trap by telling people that his doctors were terminally ill.
The deceived Hiruluk reached the castle of Wapola, where they were already waiting for him and were ready to kill him. However, Hiruluk, having learned that it was a trick, said that he was glad that no one was sick and added that a person cannot be killed by diseases, bullets or even poison - a person dies when he is forgotten. After these words, he himself drank a certain potion and exploded in front of Chopper. An enraged Chopper rushed at Wapol, but was stopped by Dalton, who admitted the usurper was wrong and asked Chopper not to sacrifice himself.
Returning to Kureha, Chopper asked to take him in and teach him the art of medicine. Although she did not want to do this, she still fulfilled Hiruluk’s request and began to teach him. From then on, he lived with Doctorina until Luffy arrived.

Character:
Chopper is very emotional and terribly shy, and when he is praised, he even begins to swear out of embarrassment.

Archaeologist

Name: Nico Robin
Place of Birth: West Blue, Ohara Island
Devil Fruit: Hana-Hana, paramecium. Allows you to grow parts of your body on any surface within sight: arms, legs, eyes, ears, etc. The quantity is limited by the owner's stamina, but is enough to create, for example, huge wings from the hands and stay in the air for several seconds. All of Robin's attacks using the fruit have French names. And, despite its fairly strong fighting qualities, the fruit is rather used more in everyday operations: household chores, transportation of stationary heavy objects (they grow legs, and they themselves go in the right direction), etc.
Biography:
A woman with a dark past - at the age of 8, the World Government assigned a huge reward for her capture. Nico Robin joined Luffy's crew after the defeat of Baroque Works - the criminal organization of which she was second in command - and the defeat of Sir Crocodile.
As a child (spent mostly without her mother - her mother abandoned little Robin to study archaeology), Robin was interested in history. She lived on an island known for its learned historians who took care of books. When the World Government became aware that the inhabitants of the island had unearthed data on The Void Century (the century before the era of the World Government's rule - invaders who came approximately 800 years before the events of the anime and manga) and on the Rio Poneglyph (an obelisk with the history of the lost century), it accepted decision to destroy the island. Robin was secretly rescued by the vice admiral of the fleet, but there was a huge bounty on her head, she was betrayed everywhere, and there was no shelter for her anywhere (we're talking about an 8-year-old girl!). Then she decided that if she betrayed her first, then they wouldn’t have time to betray her, and she began to move from team to team of pirates. At the age of 24, she joined Crocodile, and after his defeat, she joined Luffy. Apparently, it was with Luffy that she found her lost happiness - she even decided to sacrifice herself to save him and his crew when they were in danger of being caught by government agents. But when Luffy and the crew, having overcome enormous difficulties, challenged the whole world for her sake, she decided to reject the past, all the betrayals, and join him. In addition to the abilities of the devil fruit she ate, Robin is incredibly smart, a master at obtaining the information she needs, insightful and balanced. Since, after the events of Enies Lobby, Robin has no people closer than Luffy and everyone else, she values her only friends very much and always worries about them, although outwardly she remains calm and is ready to protect them at the cost of her life.

Character:
Very calm and balanced, loves to read books, especially history.

Ship carpenter

Name: Franky
Place of Birth: South Blue
Devil Fruit: No
Biography:
His real name was Cutty Flam, but everyone just called him Frankie. Before joining Luffy's crew, Franky was known as the "Face of the Water 7 Underground", the head of the "Franky Family", a group of people involved in pirate ship rigging and bounty hunting.
Franky is a cyborg. He “remade” himself, though only those parts of the body that his hands could reach. Frankie's source of energy is cola, especially for which he made a refrigerator in his stomach; the amount of cola remaining can be easily recognized by Frankie's hair; when the tanks are “empty,” his bangs fall sluggishly over his eyes, and when fully charged, they become elastic like a spring.
A large number of various weapons are “hidden” in Frankie’s huge forearms: in the left - a remote weapon, four pneumatic machine guns and a cannon; in the right - a melee weapon (a completely iron arm that can be shot forward, remains connected to the body thanks to a chain inside the arm); both hands in place of the stars can change their shape to a wider one and be used as shields. Franky has also redesigned many other parts of his body: there are homing missiles in his shoulder blades (the difficulty of use is that you need to raise both shoulder blades strongly (used only once against CP9), and “homing” is a big question for them). In addition, in battle, Frankie often shows his remarkable talent as a carpenter and can, in the blink of an eye, put together a bridge or ladder right in the air, and run up them before they fall.

Character:
Frankie likes to say "Super-e-e-r!", sometimes standing up in a special position to enhance the effect - raising his arms above his head, cupping the backs of his fists and leaning to the left or right. Frankie has a characteristic way of dressing - he wears only swimming trunks, a Hawaiian shirt, an impressive gold chain and sometimes glasses.
Frankie was the keeper of the plans for the ancient weapon "Pluto", which, as he explained, were needed in order to launch their entrance as a counterbalance to the similar weapon "Poseidon" that appeared somewhere else in the world. The only person who has the power to find Poseidon is Nico Robin, so when the Straw Hat Pirates, led by Luffy, challenged the entire World Government to bring her back, Franky believed in them and bet everything he had on their victory - on In the eyes of the head of CP9, he burned the blueprints of Pluto, and also did everything possible to reunite Robin and the team.
He joined Luffy because after the events at Enies Lobby, there was a bounty on his head and the Franky Family insisted that Luffy take him with him, since only he could save Franky if he was caught. Although it was only a formal excuse to leave Water 7, Frankie actually wanted to sail on the ship of his dreams, which he built in gratitude for the Straw Hats and always thirsted for adventure, but could not leave his friends alone - Frankie's Family had to force and by cunning to force him to board the ship (namely, they stole his swimming trunks and brought him to Sunny, where he joined the team).

Musician

Name: Brooke
Place of Birth: West Blue, a certain Kingdom
Devil Fruit: Yomi-Yomi, paramecia. Allows the body to be revived after death. It is unclear whether this fruit only works once or not, and whether it is possible for an already dead Brook to die.
Biography:
Brook is a new member of the Straw Hat Pirates, a "skeleton gentleman", although, despite his polite speech and neatness, Brook lacks any gentlemanly manners. Plus to all this, he is a banal pervert. This is especially expressed in his trademark demand that girls show him their panties (for which he received it from Nami at the first meeting).
Many years ago, Brook ate the Yomi-Yomi fruit. The only effect of the fruit was Brook's inability to swim, but after his entire crew and he were killed, Brook's soul, thanks to the fruit, returned back - he received a second life. However, while he was looking for a ship carried by currents in the mists of the Florian Triangle, his body completely decayed, leaving only a skeleton with an afro - his hairstyle remained due to the fact that, according to Brook himself, his hair always “had strong roots” .
Before his death, Brook was a musician in the Rumba Pirates, where there was a whole pirate ensemble. Full of hope, they entered the Grand Line, accidentally picking up a baby Island Whale (so named because an adult of this species becomes the size of an entire island), Laboon, who had come to them. Promising Laboon that they would soon pass through the Grand Line and down the other side of the mountain, they left the whale at the gates of the dangerous ocean. However, their plans were not destined to happen - first, a serious illness took away their captain, and Brook took his place, and then the rest of the team died in the battle. About 50 years have passed since then. Brook, wandering alone on his ghost ship in the Florian Triangle, encountered Gecko Moria on the floating island of Thriller Bark, where he lost his shadow and since then could not leave the mists of the triangle, as he would disappear under sunlight. However, when Luffy and the Straw Hats defeated Moriah and returned his shadow, Brook was no longer deterred from fulfilling his promise to Laboon. Having joined Luffy's crew, Brook plans to go around the Grand Line and, as promised, go down to Laboon on the other side of Reverse Mountain.

Character:
Brook is an excellent musician, he can play almost any instrument, but most often he can be seen with the violin, or at the piano keys. His favorite song is "Binks' Sake", which was often sung by the Rumba Pirates, and their captain and Laboon really liked it. Brook carries with him the last performance of this song by the Rumba Pirates recorded on the Sound Shell (made on Skypiea, the Sky Island, it records and plays sound like a voice recorder), bought by Brook on a merchant ship (during this performance, the crew members fell dead one after another) , to lose it to Laboon.
In addition, Brook is an excellent swordsman, his cane contains a blade that he skillfully wields using his own style of "delayed" strikes. He has abilities that are unique to the skeleton - for example, milk completely heals him and heals fractures, in his words, “thanks to calcium,” and he can also jump high and run straight through the water, since he is not burdened with flesh. In addition, Brook uses his musical abilities in battle: he can put enemies to sleep by playing the violin.

What is the "devil's fruit"?

Devil fruit-wonder of the world "One Piece". They are called the "treasure of the sea" and are considered the "incarnation of the sea devil." Their shapes and colors are varied, but any fruit has a characteristic pattern of curls, which at first glance makes it possible to distinguish them from ordinary fruits.
The name of a particular Devil Fruit is based on the abilities it grants, often based on onomatopoeia or simply Japanese vocabulary. For example, the fruit eaten by the main character of "One Piece", Luffy, which turned him into a "rubber man", is called "gomu gomu no mi" or simply: "gomu-gomu fruit"
There are more than a hundred fruits in total. The fruits, even those whose effect is unknown, are very highly prized - each one costs at least 100,000,000 beli.

Peculiarities
-The fruits taste extremely disgusting.
-The ability granted by the fruit is transferred after the fruit is at least partially eaten.
-Whoever eats the second fruit begins a “fight between two devils” inside, which will ultimately lead to death (i.e. the devil dooms to death the one who, out of greed, wanted to have two abilities of the fruit at once).
-In the world of “One Piece”, each fruit is unique in properties and exists, accordingly, in a single copy.
-When the owner dies, the fruit appears again. This is how the encyclopedia of devil fruits was compiled.

Types of fruits:
Paramecia(literally from Japanese - "superhuman type") is a type of devil fruit that changes the body of the eater, thereby giving him various superhuman abilities depending on the type of fruit.
Zoan (literally from Japanese - “animal type”) - this is a type of devil fruit that allows the one who eats it to turn into an animal. All Zoan-type fruits are divided into models, more details below in the list of Devil Fruits. Transformations are limited to only three forms. Note - thanks to the Rumble Ball, Chopper was able to increase the number of transformation forms from three to seven, but the effect of one such ball is only for three minutes.
Logia (literally from Japanese - “natural type”) - this is a type of devil fruit that transforms the entire body, making the eater almost invulnerable, endowing him with remarkable strength, and also granting him limitless abilities. This is the most powerful and rarest type of Devil Fruit in the entire "One Piece" world.

Side effects:
If a person who has eaten a devil fruit falls into the sea, then he goes to the bottom with an “axe”. In sea water, all abilities are lost.

List of Devil Fruits:

Paramecia:

Gomu-gomu fruit, eaten by Monkey D. Luffy
Allows the body of the eater to stretch, imparts elasticity and flexibility, in fact the person becomes “rubber”. Attacks with piercing weapons cause the greatest damage to the eater, but electricity, bullets, and cannonballs cannot cause any harm and are virtually ineffective.

Bara-bara fruit, eaten by Captain Buggy Clown
Allows the body of the eater to split into parts and control them. Slashing and piercing weapons do not cause any effect or damage.

Sube-sube fruit, eaten by Captain Alvida

Kama-kama fruit, eaten by the mercenary Eric
Allows the body of the eater to cut the air, making it unusually sharp, like a blade.

Fruit "bom-bom", eaten by Mr. 5
Allows the body of the eater to explode, not only completely, but also any other part, even a fist upon impact, even a booger =) Immunity to all explosive weapons.

Fruit "baku-baku", eaten by Vapor
Allows the eater to eat almost anything, including inorganic materials. Also, it becomes possible to recreate those things or objects that he ate, as well as growing an eaten object from any part of the body. Firearms have no effect, but for example, if you eat them, they will grow out of your body and become fully functional.

Mane-mane fruit, eaten by Mr. 2 Bon Clay
Allows the eater to completely recreate the appearance of any person they touch. Abilities are not transferred during transformation, but copying is perfect. The reconstruction is canceled by touching the face with the left hand.

"Soupa Soupa" fruit, eaten by Mr. 1
Allows the body of the eater to transform completely into steel and grow the sharpest blades from any part of the body, which are capable of cutting any material, almost into atoms.

Toge-toge fruit eaten by Miss Doublefinger

Fruit "doa-doa", eaten by Bruno
Allows the eater to open portals in the form of doors on any surface.

Ava-ava fruit, eaten by Kalifa
Allows the body of the eater to secrete bubbles, which take away the strength of the enemy, and also blur all the irregularities on his body, as a result of which he cannot continue the fight. Special protection covering the entire body with soap ensures invulnerability to any attacks. Note: This fruit is a type of paramacea, not logia, in SBS Oda-sensei specifically answered this question.

Beriberi fruit eaten by Marine Captain Berrygood
Allows the body of the eater to split into berry-shaped pieces. Note: This ability is similar to the "bara-bara" devil fruit's power.
